I'm having difficulty with images loading as black rectangle with no image, but image thumbnail shows in layer panel. I've found that if I drag the selection tool on the black rectangle the image appears. Any help out there?

I'm having difficulty with images loading as black rectangle with no image, but image thumbnail shows in layer panel.  I've found that if I drag the selection tool on the black rectangle the image appears.  Any help out there? I'm using CC CS6.
