Thanks for your reply. My export settings are below. I also tried jacking the target and max bitrate sliders all the way up (to 25), but that didn't seem to make a difference.
I was using Lagarith to export kind of as a best-case scenario. I figured that if even that did not display clear numbers on the PFD then nothing would and I was doing something fundamentally wrong. I know I can't really use a file size that large. Regarding that, I am curious as to why the Lagarith PP export is lower quality than the Lagarith screen capture? If Lagarith is lossless, shouldn't they be the same? or at least close?
You may be still getting to your point about the Hollywood compression, but why is it unusable? Computers are computers, are they not? Do you mean its just too expensive, or is there a process involved that can't be reproduced for some reason? (Also, I was referencing 'Iron Man 3' - its 12.0GB and 2 hours, 10 mins with perfect 1080p video.)
